Therapy & Counselling

The kind of problems that are dealt with in counselling are typically transient and short-term, often relatin
g to a trauma response (post-traumatic stress is topical in Christchurch currently) anger & stress, confidence and assertion, alcoholism, addiction, & life-decisions.

Psychotherapy is at its best with questions about life, love and relationships, feelings of emptiness or lacking purpose,
sexuality issues and also longer term anxiety and depression. Therapy tends to work best for problems that are thematic and recurring which impact on the ability to enjoy and be satisfied in our lives.

The reality is that a humanistic approach to working with people is likely to result in a cross-over of the tools and strategies used in both Therapy and Counselling.
